RISE & SHINE KAUT43 OKC
This time of year in Oklahoma City when temperatures are close to 100 degrees with a humidity point of around the same, finding ways to stay cool, keep cool, and have something sweet and delicious, can be somewhat of a challenge.
If you love sweet, and if you like “coffee,” an Italian Affogato is the way to go!
Affogato (translates to “drowned”) traditionally in Italian cafes is a scoop of vanilla gelato or ice-cream drowned with a hot shot of espresso. Some may consider this a dessert, and others may think an affogato a beverage. I’m jazzing it up a bit, thanks to my Double Chocolate Brownie mix, and a shot of cold brew coffee concentrate.
For The Cold Brew Coffee: Needs 12 hours to brew
1 1/4 cup fresh ground espresso roast beans
1 quart (4 cups) cold filtered/bottled water
Place the ground espresso roast beans in the bottom of a clean glass container. Pour over the cold filtered water, then cover and place in the refrigerator. Allow to cold-brew 12 hours or overnight.
Filter the cold brew through a paper or wire coffee filter, a wet paper towel and funnel, or any other way that will keep the coffee grounds out of your cold brew.

Prepare your cold brew coffee at least 12 hours ahead of time. Filter the grounds and store the cold-new in your refrigerator to use for ice coffee and affogato.
Grab the bag of delicious and decadent “Double Chocolate Brownie Mix” and bake according to directions. You may also use your favorite recipe or brownie mix.
In your favorite bowl, cup, or glass add a brownie or two in the bottom. Top it off with your favorite vanilla bean gelato, frozen custard, or ice cream.
Before you are ready to serve and depending on how large of a portion you have made, pour over the cold brew coffee concentrate … remember “affogato” means drowned.
Shave semi-sweet chocolate over the top of your chocolate brownie affogato for a little extra flair and flavor. Enjoy!
